City Face-Off: Memphis Vs Nashville

Just clicking random links always provide interesting tidbits to share with you all and when I stumbled upon Travel & Leisure's America's Favorite Cities, I just had to see where my Memphis ranked! To throw in a little more  juice, I did a ranking face off between Memphis and Nashville

Unfortunately, according to Travel & Leisure, Nashville was the winner and Memphis was the loser but whatever.. my city is no loser, we're innovators and people come here for inspiration and whatnot and take it back to their respective city and build upon that... thats neither here nor there though. I'm rambling..

Here's the stats for Memphis:

The Best:
#2 in Barbeque (bold faced lie..smh, we're #1)
#9 in Affordability
#10 for Live Music/Concerts/Bands (idk how)
#13 for a Wild Weekend (truuu..lol)
#14 in Friendly (that good ol' Southern Hospitality)

The Worst
#32 in Luxury Stores (no major brands)
#32 in Athletic/Active
#31 in Tech Savvy (I cannot agree, I am with a Tech/Math Genius!)

Compared to Nashville (rolls eyes, lol)

Nashville #19 in Shopping / Memphis #26
Nashville #6 in Nightlife / Memphis #18
Nashville #17 in Culture / Memphis #21
Nashville #13 in Attractive People/ Memphis #26

-pause-
I really have to disagree with that rank. Its more dog-faced women in Nashville compared to Memphis on any given day (and yes I am personally BIASED
-continue-

Nashville #16 for Best Time to Visit (Summer) versus Memphis' ranking of #22 .. which again. I absolutely do not agree with!

There is nothing like a hot, humid, bbq air filled Memphis summer. Our summers are classic, weather you spend it Downtown or out in the Country, you'll enjoy every moment of it. But, I'm sure that these surveys were completed by Concrete Rats who don't know how to appreciate our City's laid-back way of life.

Interesting stuff huh?! I'll leave you with this lovely video of our city!

until next time, xo

Please please help me love this city. i am a married mother of two and we have been in Cordova for almost five years now. i feel memphis is a place that you love if your were born here. it's not friendly to transplants. my family was a victim of a violent crime, so now this whole town is getting the side-eye. what am i missing as far as family friendly fun? me and hubby have done beale street and club onyx, but we are not heavy partiers. i'm giving some serious thought to moving to nashville. i want more of a vibrant suburban family focus, if that makes sense.
